Give to Get Meetup Group!

Hey all!

I have started a group in Plainfield, Indiana.  It is though MeetUp.com

The group is for people who believe that you must give to get! It is that simple. I want to meet other people that feel as I do….basically that KINDNESS…I know here she goes again!!! Kindness is missing in our society today and we need to bring it back. I do a few things myself, my current endeavor is to send a card to someone each and every day to make them feel special! Today I sent 7…although Christmas is right around the corner so that is not fair, but they were individual cards all different with different special greetings in each one and I hope they are appreciated and something tells me they will be.

Anyway, if you live near and would like to come to one of our meetings join the group! It is brand spanking new and I am the only  member so far! I hope that changes fast. I like to believe there are alot of like minded people out there that feel the same way as I do and I am anxious to hear what everyone else does to make others feel special and show kindness to people…..even people you don’t know!!!  Or maybe that is easier..maybe I should say to your own family! LOL

Whatever the case. Go to   http://www.meetup.com/The-Plainfield-Give-to-Get-Meetup-Group/  and JOIN today!!!

Hope to see you there!

The Blog Shoppe and Kathy Moore!

September 11th, 2008 Christine Posted in Business reviews, GOOD Customer Service, Resources No Comments »

Sometimes I take a long time to write a review. But hey! I still have not wrote the one up about my home remodel!!! I will..I will…it is just when it is controversial, I think it needs some time to lapse between the service and the review..to get some CLEAR perspective! If ya know what I mean!

But that is not the case with this review! I have just taken my time cuz I….DID!

What can I say about Kathy Moore and The Blog Shoppe?

First and foremost let me say that Kathy knows how to give great customer service!! You will not be disappointed in the service at all!

Beyond that?
Well, I just love her! Really! She helped me with this new blog and the Forum! She helped me with the whole redesign of my site. I am sure alot of you out there know….a website redesign can be a daunting task!

I found Kathy through a referral on www.mommymillionaire.com . The referrer had many good things to say about Kathy and her work. I e-mailed her and after a slow start we really got into things and stuff got to moving.

Now, let me say the “slow” start was not Kathy’s fault! I do not blame her in the least!

When I originally emailed her I told her I was talking to a few different people and needed to figure out who would be best suited to help me. She really was waiting on me to make a decision. Once I did we were off and running.

I really enjoyed working with Kathy. She is very patient and creative, I LOVE those qualities in a person!!! She listened to me as I tried to figure out exactly what is was that I wanted for my new design. Let me tell you I have a file of emails that amount to well over 50!!! We were burning up cyberspace!

She did a redesign and made a banner for my site..see the GURLZ?? I love them! She found me hosting and did all the techie stuff!

I just sat back and said…”yes, I love that”……”uh, no, not that” ” ummm, could you change the colors?” “oh, could you change them back?” “Oh, one last thing, can you add this”? “Kaaaaaaaaaaaaathyyyyyyyyyy, did I say, one last thing”???? “Kathy,Kathy,Kathy,Kathy,Kathy…..” I bet she is glad this is done!!
And she did it all with a “virtual smile” on her face. I know she was smiling, I COULD FEEL IT!

If you need someone to help you with a new blog, Kathy Moore is your GURL! www.theblogshoppe.com

Go see what she can do for you and tell her that Christine sent you……or maybe you should not to mention my name??? LOL Ahh what the heck, live on the edge!

The purpose of this blog and forum.

August 25th, 2008 Christine Posted in Christine's Musings!, Featured, Resources No Comments »

I have received a few emails from people who have been following along with my blog and, apparently, have been reading my forum but choose not to join! :P Don’t know what to make of that!

While reading these emails I was struck by how passionate other people are about customer service! I mean, I know there are other sites devoted to customer service related “banter” and they appear to be pretty successful sites, but still, I was pretty excited to find out that so many people share my views on the state of customer service today!

One emailer asked the question ” will you give the business owners a chance to reply if they want to” that would be in response to a unfavorable post by either me or a guest. My response…” of course! I not only will allow it I encourage it!” My site, at the moment, is just a modest attempt, by me, to get out what is in my mind. I would be most honored if at some point it became more then that. For now though, all you have is ME! Christine and her lovely soapbox.

I will blog, daily if need be, about emails that I receive from other consumers or business owners. Eventually, if I warrant it, I will get their permission and start posting them in their entirety. If I think that would be beneficial to my cause.

OH…what is my cause? Mu purpose for this website? True I did entitle this “the purpose of this blog and forum” didn’t I? Sorry, I got a little sidetracked.

Okay, well, let me see……. I ummmm, I like to talk. I really enjoy talking with other people and I have a PASSION for customer service. One day I was reading a book about business success and how to achieve it and it begged an answer to the question, “what is your passion?” it said that in order to be successful you must engage in something that you are passionate about. In order to keep getting up day after day and keep trying you need to be passionate about what it is that you do! PERIOD!

So, I thought about that question and wanted to answer it honestly. I thought, “what is it that I love to talk about and always seem to be passionate about and never seem to get tired of doing?” I could only think of one thing, CUSTOMER SERVICE! It always comes back to the same thing. I LOVE witnessing, giving and receiving great customer service! I have been in the field in one capacity or another for over 13 years!! I worked for the mouse for heavens sake! who knows customer service better the Walt Disney?

And then I thought about it…is that really the key to success? BE PASSIONATE about what it is that you are doing? I thought back to my own subject of customer service and came full circle. OF COURSE it is true, I know that. I know in order to give good customer service that you need to be passionate about helping people. So, if I know that to be true then why is it not true for just being successful in anything that you do? DUH!! Of course it is true. And here I am.

I really didn’t know what to do with my new found knowledge, well, not so new found as it turns out. :)

So, I thought just start blogging about it and get a forum going. Add interesting stories and do reviews about companies that you have used, write about whether they have consistently given you great customer service or bad customer service. And I could hear that famous line from that wonderful movie……” if you build it they will come”

And here I am.

I want to point out that my desire is NOT to bash any businesses nor cause any problems, what it is that I want to accomplish is to cause businesses to affect consumers by treating them like the valuable assets that they are.

It is not that I think I can accomplish something so magnificent on my own, I just desire to make a minor wave in the great ocean of life! I am but a little fish in a big pond!

Who is to blame for poor customer service?

August 2nd, 2008 Christine Posted in Christine's Musings!, Resources No Comments »

<——– Recognize The Employer?

I received an interesting email today. It gave me cause to stop and wonder WHO is really to blame for poor customer service? Now, I think that I have covered this on my site several or more times, but after receiving this email it occurs to me that it bears repeating, once, maybe twice, maybe even more then that!
So here I am, to repeat…. WHO is to blame for poor customer service? In my opinion? Well, ultimately, the EMPLOYER is to blame. Dontcha think? As I have said before, the employer does the hiring and gives their employee a nice little handbook and maybe, usually, a orientation…”welcome to our company, we were founded…yada, yada, yada…you know the drill! AND then they are given the MISSION statement or overall goals of this company which usually includes treating people right and making people feel welcome or comfortable. Of course it depends on what kind of business you are in as to how involved this gets, but even if you are a paper salesman whose primary account is Staples, well, then Staples IS your customer, right? Your customer does not have to be a individual, it can be another company. Does that mean that they do not deserve to be treated with respect? NO. This is what I talk about all of the time, a customer is a customer is a customer…PERIOD! ALL companies should strive for good customer relations!!! ALL business owners should VALUE their customers, realize that those customers, whether they are soccer moms or big companies are your bread and butter YOU NEED THEM, THEY DO NOT NEED YOU, because in most cases they can find someone else to do for them what it is that they are willing to PAY YOU TO DO!
So, WHO is to blame for poor customer service skills? The employer of course! AS I have said before, and it is worth repeating, your employees are a reflection of your company and your policies. When I leave a store or hang up the phone after talking with a sales rep or customer relations associate, whatever, I do not walk out thinking that person is going to run that company into the ground! I know that the girl or guy that gave me bad service might eventually get fired, if enough people complain, that really is not the issue, what I really think about is the fact that I am not happy with the company…the company…Not the employee but the BIG GUYS that hire and allow their employees to treat a customer like that. If I am standing in line and witness a customer serv. rep. being rude to a customer, I not only think WOW, how does she keep her job with that attitude!!! No, I think HOW DOES THIS COMPANY ALLOW EMPLOYEES TO ACT THAT WAY? AND I think, how long can this company go on like this? I think , is this really their policy or is this just poor training? I am left to wonder if I really want to do business with this company.
I know for me and my family, we enjoy doing business in friendly establishments. We enjoy and appreciate being treated with respect and we recognize it!! So, I will keep recognizing it and businesses will keep screwing up, such is the nature of our world. The one thing that is certain, is that consumers will continue to get PO’d when they are treated badly and YOUR company will be talked about in Forums like mine or others where consumers ultimately go to talk about how badly they get treated by companies! And maybe, just maybe given time, it will all begin to change.
