A Saturday afternoon at the Outlet Mall!

August 17th, 2008 Christine Posted in GOOD Customer Service, Your Story, retail No Comments »

My daughter visited this Outlet Mall today with her family.

She came home with some clothes ( not for me) AND a story to share!

The STORY-

They drive the oh…say about 97 miles from our neck of the woods to the Edinburgh Outlet Mall. It is a nice day, a nice day for a drive.

My son in law goes into one of the stores and my daughter stays in the van so that she can feed the newest member of the family, Dominic, who is about 2 months old! So there she sits feeding the baby, she finishes, or he does and she decides to get herself and the baby ready for when daddy comes back to get them. Nice girl huh?

Well, she gets the stroller out and gets the baby in and settled when the son in law arrives to whisk them away on their shopping adventure. She locks up the van, because her dad and I have always taught her that you have to be safe and lock the vehicles when you leave them. She does, good girl, always listening to your mum and dad!

They go on their merry way when…something that eludes my memory happens to cause them to have to go back to the van at which point he says ” where are the keys” and she says ” where are the keys” at which point I am sure they both say simultaneously…” YOU had them!” “NO, YOU had them” yes, that was both of them again! This is my story. It is the way I remember it being told to me.

All joking aside, they are both kinda bent out of shape towards the other. She leaves and heads to the Motherhood Maternity store so that she can, YES, feed the baby again.

She says he was hungry, but didn’t she say she just fed him? But, I digress……She walks in and asks the clerk if she can use one of the dressing rooms to feed the baby. The girl feels badly but the rooms are all full at this time. She says that she has a back room that my daughter can use to feed the baby. They make her comfortable and she feeds him.

When she finishes and exits the room there is her hubby waiting for her. Apparently they have a few words, still upset with each other a bit, the girl asks if there is anything she can do for them. My daughter explains what has happened and the girl calls security to come help.

The daughter waits outside for security, who never show up, maybe we should discuss them next? Anyway, my daughter goes in to thank the girl and tell her security didn’t show and maybe she could get the number to the police? The girl tells her that she will make the calls for her. My daughter thanks her and goes to leave at which point the clerk stops her and asks her if the kids are hungry or thirsty?

Here comes the good stuff!

These girls, apparently there were 2 of them, felt bad for this young family and wanted to help them. They gave the kids food and water and showed extreme kindness. They

probably have no idea the impact that they had on this family. They went above and beyond and made this family feel very good, when they could have been feeling bad. That is excellent customer service!!

Thank you for taking care of my family! You guys are the best!If you have an opportunity to go to this Motherhood, tell them you read this story and how awesome they were to help out a young family in need.

By the way, my daughter wants me to say….If you are a breastfeeding mother and are out shopping and in need of some privacy to feed the baby, stop in at any Motherhood! They are great and will let you use a room to have some privacy.Thank you Motherhood Maternity!! Specifically the Edinburgh Premium Outlet location.OH and the car??? I guess they got it opened…they got home!

Frustration!

August 1st, 2008 Christine Posted in Bad Customer Service, Business reviews, retail No Comments »

Dear Consumers and Business Owners alike~

As I sit here today on this beautiful Sunday afternoon, I can not help but reflect upon a experience that my husband and I went through last Oct. I already posted this in my Forum so maybe you are familiar with our terrible experience with Airport Chrysler Orlando Florida.

Before I recap the story of what happened to us, I want to preface it by saying that there is so much frustration in being a consumer these days! I mean, you earn your money and take the time to make purchases from businesses that you believe deserve your patronage as well as your money and yet we are let down time and time again. I do not know what has happened to good old fashioned KINDNESS, whether in business or our everyday lives. I am so tired of being out in public only to hear people ranting at each other, I can only assume that the people they are assaulting with their words ( and my eyes and ears with) are their LOVED ONES…it is no wonder that we can not manage to extend normal customer service in today’s rat race considering the way that most of us treat our so called “LOVED ONES” and in public no less. We have “road rage” and domestic violence galore these days. It is so out of control that we as parents can not even discipline our children in public without fear of being reported for child abuse. Is it any wonder that we can not get common courtesy when we are out visiting our local businesses? I want to change that. I think it is high time that we start TEACHING our children AND adults how to get back to good old fashioned courtesy! make sure the kids are taught what it is to be kind to people without fear that someone is going to tell us we are violating “SOMEONES” civil rights to be a JERK!

Okay…I did say that I would, on occasion, rant…right? Well, this is one of those times. For the most part I want to keep this a very professional site where consumers and businesses alike can come to learn where to get great customer service as well as how to GIVE great customer service! Chalk this up to one of those less then professional but very human ( and the reason I started this whole endeavor) reactions to this subject!

Okay, so on to the subject at hand.

Airport Chrysler AND Chrysler in general! We bought a 2007 300c SRT Design, a very nice auto with a pretty nice tag on it. We paid cash. We were not an extremely hard sell and we were ready to buy when we walked in, because we had been researching it for so long.

So, we pay cash and go to pick it up 1 or 2 days later. When we arrive we do not get to see our salesman but a different salesman comes to tell us our car is being washed and made pretty for us! YAY!

Okay, so the nice salesman that is not our original salesman, comes to tell us that our pretty car has been damaged! We have not even taken possession of it yet. But sure enough it is damaged and not just a little bit either. Oh no, we go to look at it and the back side panel over the left rear tire is crushed. Yup, the auto washer got out of control. We are pretty upset, go figure…. what ensues is a disgrace to Chrysler and to us, as we should not have let them get away with it.

The manager and a few other sales people are being very defensive and telling us that they will fix it good as new and it will be ready in a few days. They want us to leave and come back in 2 -3 days when it is done. They do not offer us a rental, we have to ask for one, they do not take us seriously when we suggest that maybe we should not be taking this car, that maybe we should be getting a new undamaged car, like the one we bought. No, we never got a new car, we got the car that we bought, yes, it looks good. You would never know it was damaged. I had to call several times to see when the car would be finished, our salesman would not return our calls. Can you imagine that? THEY DAMAGE the car that we just paid cash for an d have not even taken possession of and they will not return our calls? WOW. This has to be the worst customer service ever! We felt very mistreated, especially after already having paid them cash. So, while I am calling about the car I also ask them to make sure we get the window sticker which we had been working on getting the day it got crushed.

We go to pick the car up and it looks great, but we are still letting them know that we do not like that they didn’t offer us a new car, they seriously ignore us regarding this matter. Then I ask for our window sticker and they do not have it. Our salesman says he will order one for us from Chrysler. Okay, we will get it in a week or 2.

Well, long story short, we never got it, we never heard from them again even though we sent emails and left phone messages. We moved back to Indiana a few weeks later, if we had not moved we would have gone there in person to let them know how we feel. I have called them and I have sent them a bad survey review, all to no avail. I finally emailed and called Chrysler directly bypassing the dealer, they informed us not only can they not help us, they will not get us a sticker as that is something the dealership has to do! YES, I explained to them that the dealer will not return our calls or emails. Neither of them care.

Would we ever buy a Chrysler again? What do you think? We will be buying more new cars in the years to come and we will be paying cash for them and we will be going somewhere else. I hope by the time we are ready we will have some great reviews on this site for us to pick the best dealer to go with!

Customer service is EVERYTHING! All they had to do to make us loyal customers, who would have even bought our next car from them, even though we live in Indiana, was to treat us right when they damaged our car. Not only did they NOT do that they added insult to injury by not even getting us our window sticker and never returning our phone calls or emails.

YES, they received a MINUS 1 rating with me. WHY? When a company goes this far to give bad customer service I start to feel they are not very honest people, I would never recommend someone to buy from them.
